{"id":1418,"date":"2014-09-08T13:45:57","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T12:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doena-journal.net\/en\/?p=1418"},"modified":"2021-09-27T15:44:13","modified_gmt":"2021-09-27T13:44:13","slug":"halt-and-catch-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/doena-journal.net\/en\/1418\/halt-and-catch-fire","title":{"rendered":"Halt and Catch Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/doena-journal.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Halt_and_Catch_Fire_Intertitle1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Halt_and_Catch_Fire_%28TV_series%29\"><em>Halt and Catch Fire<\/em> @ Wikipedia<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2543312\/\"><em>Halt and Catch Fire<\/em> @ IMDb<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Synopsis:<\/em> Set in the early 1980s this is about three employees of a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IBM_compatible\">IBM PC clone<\/a> manufacturer company who want to build a new kind of PC.<br \/>\nThey start off <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reverse_engineering\">reverse engineering<\/a> the IBM <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BIOS\">BIOS<\/a> and then go from there.<br \/>\nThese three people are very different and yet excellent at what they do.<\/p>\n<p><em>My Opinion:<\/em> The real life&#8217;s history of the show&#8217;s name can be read on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Halt_and_Catch_Fire\">Wikipedia<\/a>.<br \/>\nIn the beginning I was a bit hard for me to actually care about the characters.<br \/>\nThey appeared to be cardboard cutouts for Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak from Apple and an Angelina Jolie&#8217;s Acid Burn from <em>Hackers<\/em> thrown in the mix.<br \/>\nBut after a few episodes they really grew on me and towards the end of the first season I truly wanted them to succeed.<br \/>\nAnd it&#8217;s very nostalgic to see them fight over every kilobyte of memory whereas nowadays? &#8220;8 gigs are too slow?
