This year I made a list what I paid for DVDs for the first time - it would have been better if I hadn’t…

This year I bought 109 items which resulted in 455 profiles. The total costs for this were 1,628.60€ (I transform foreign currencies at once to see what I’ve actually paid).

The average price was 15.66€ per item which is pretty amazing since there are quite a number of season boxes and even full series boxes among them.

My first item this year was the “Angel” complete box which costed 82.19€.

My last item was “The Dark Knight” which costed 9.85€.

My most expensive item was the “Stargate SG-1″ complete box which costed 137.05€.

I started from Berlin yesterday morning at 9.45 am. The travel went very well, it was very few traffic as I had hoped. I had hoped to be at home at around 4 - 4.30 pm (730km / 450mi distance between Berlin and Herxheim). But then north of Frankfurt my front left tyre blew when I was driving at 170km/h (105mph) on most left lane. Ay, caramba! But luckily I could pull over and come to a halt without anything happening.

Then I drove to the next garage on my emergency tyre and had the next problem: The tyre size is quite unusual and he could get two new ones (I replaced both front tyres) not until tomorrow (today).

So I called a friend (I used to live near Frankfurt) and asked if I could sleep over at his house. He agreed and we had a nice evening and a nice day with his family today until I got my car at 3 pm and could finally drive home. :)

It wasn’t planned as such, but in the last few weeks I have watched quite a number of Science-Fiction movies and a good part of them were “Doomsday” movies, so I might as well write a few words about them. Most of these movies are very, very US-patriotic but when you can accept that and when you can ignore the scientific “inaccuracies” you can have a lot of fun with them.

Synopsis: July, 2nd. Some aliens come in a huge ship. They place their UFOs all over the world and blow everything apart. July, 3rd. We try to strike back and fail miserably. July, 4th. We give them a cold and blow them apart.

My Opinion: Great movie. Love it. It’s so cheesy that falls out of the bottom of the scale and comes back from the top of it. The characters are so overdrawn that you can’t take them seriously and that saves the movie. Imagine you would have to look at this movie with a serious eye. The president that fights in the final battle, the drunken pilot that saves the day, the scientist that writes a computer virus for an alien computer and Will Smith in the middle of it.
