I believe the movie was as close to the book as could be. I have read the trilogy twice now, and was not disapointed in the movie. You present a different view, not being familiar with the story and make a very valid point. To follow the book entirely, would make a movie about 10 - 12 hours long, which we know is not possible. They left out a number of fairly significant area(story of the Avox/slaves and the friendship with the mayor's daughter) but they also added some things that were not in the book - those being the conversations between the Games Keeper, Senica Crane and President Snow as well as the action in the control room. Movies are a far different media than books and the two can rarely be identical. The trick is to fins the best common ground that works well, for both. I believe they did this with The Hungar Games, but I do value your point of view.

the book has 10 time the store in it. The movie was not bad but it didn't live up to the book. I really think you should finish the book. you will have a better understanding of what is going on in the story.

Honestly, I just watched it because Tom Welling a.k.a. Clark Kent was Executive Producer. Otherwise I probably would never have noticed it at all.

You didn't really expect this to hold up to "Bring it on"-standards, did you? It's The CW after all.

SGU
I still hope that they'll get back to the two stranded idiots, there HAS to be some sort of payoff.

Rush is an asshole, but I really liked how he had his nervous breakdown.

I actually like some of the characters. Young is very good, I like how understated his character is played. I also like that religious soldier, he's not preachy which I like. Usually it's really in your face.

And Eli, well he's necessary to break the tension really.

I like the Ronald D. Moore remake, but the classic Galactica really has a special place in my heart. I was a young child when I first saw the eoisodes, and I actually had all the Galactica toys!

The remake, I think, was full of many clichés (like the grudge that Lee Adama holds against his commander father, etc), and it was bleak, and cynical. The classic series, was all about hope, faith, loyalty and the classic battle between good and evil.

Some people say that the old series was a bit dumb. Well, youy have to remember that part of tis audience was kids, so some things had to be simplified. Still, it had interesting takes on the ancient astronaut theory, artificial intelligence, mythology, and other subjects (while the remake was not really science-fiction but a space soap opera).

Finally, I don't know why some say that the acting was so bad in the old Galactica, because I think Lorne Greene, Richard Hatch did a terrific job, and most of the other actors' work was quite acceptable. Plus, in the new version, many actors were one-trick-ponies. I mean, there was the Edward James Olmos glare, the Michael Hogan yell, etc...

I hope we will see another version of Galactica, in the years to come. I don't want it to die with the Ronald D. Moore so-called «reimagined version», which was know in some circles as GINO, for Galactica in name only!

Another classic science fiction and fantasy series cancelled before its time. Too bad it was ruined, let alone stained with the bad memories of Galactica 1980, the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, and now New Caprica.

I'd like to know what Universal Pictures was thinking when they screwed up with this classic space opera.

The latest version works fantastic. 0.2.1.0 had some parsing issues, but 0.3.1.0, along with what looks like a beefier mapping file, is working great !!!! many thanks. I had started manually updating the mapping XML for 0.2.1.0, but the gui front end makes it much easier (I had to keep a profile open in DVDP so that I could see the possible categories and sub categories for the credits). Many thanks for this !!!! :)
